Reality Roadblocks:

Eliminating the Obstacles to Achieving True Reality.

Mass media companies often profit from advertisements. For ads to be effective, consumers must eventually purchase something—whether it's a car, a product, or a meal. People who have a clear perception of reality only buy what they genuinely need or desire. As a result, advertisers frequently market half-truths and outright false statements to boost profits. For instance, if a brewery can convince you that drinking alcohol will make you appear popular or attractive, they stand to make more money than if they provided a more accurate depiction of alcohol consumption. To fully trust the information from a mass media source, you must believe that the source won't sacrifice the truth.

The issue with corporate-owned mass media is that when there's a conflict between profit and reality, profit often takes precedence. The cumulative effect of mass media exposure is to condition you to believe a distorted version of the truth—one that favors pro-advertiser values. The more you expose yourself to mainstream mass media like TV, the more skewed your perception of truth becomes. Additionally, the more time you spend consuming mass media, the less time you invest in learning from direct experience. This leads to long-term laziness, indifference, and decline, rather than sound reasoning.
